The Visionary Sales Era
Senior UX Designer – Sales Enablement
Hypergiant (Accelint)
Role: Senior UX Designer – Sales Enablement Duration: September 2024 – February 2025 Security Clearance: Top Secret (Interim)
Executive Summary
Embedded within the Pathfinder (Sales Enablement) team to bridge the gap between complex engineering capabilities and high-stakes business development. Responsible for taking abstract Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) concepts and translating them into "visionary" interactive prototypes. These prototypes served as the primary vehicle for pitching AI-enabled software solutions to various branches of the DoD, including the Air Force and Navy.
Key Contributions & Strategic Impact
1. IAMD (Integrated Air & Missile Defense) Prototype
- The Mission: Designed a comprehensive Command and Control (C2) interface to manage the defense of high-value assets (like Guam or Ramstein AFB) against cruise missile threats.
- The Innovation: Developed a COA (Course of Action) Manager that utilized AI to suggest defensive strategies (e.g., Layered Defense vs. Rapid Intercept). Introduced visual "urgency" cues, such as TTO at INT (Time to Overhead at Intercept) timer bars, allowing operators to make split-second decisions based on missile proximity and magazine depth.
- Business Value: This prototype visualized a $62M–$100M contract opportunity, showing the DoD how Hypergiant could automate the "Kill Chain" and reduce the cognitive load on Mission Crew Commanders (MCCs).
2. MTC2 (Maritime Tactical Command & Control)
- The Mission: Created a 72-hour operational planning tool for a Carrier Strike Group (CSG) in the Socal Oparea.
- The Innovation: Designed a Sync Matrix that mapped unit employment (CVN-72, F-18s, Destroyers) over time, which then dynamically updated a map-based Common Operating Picture (COP).
- Feature Leadership: Integrated "Baseball Card" readiness views (tracking fuel, weapons, and equipment status) and an Excalidraw-style markup tool for digital "watch turnovers," allowing officers to sketch notes directly onto the live tactical map.
3. NITES (Naval Integrated Tactical Environmental System)
- The Mission: Developed a weather-integrated tactical tool focusing on METOC (Meteorology and Oceanography) data.
- The Impact: Visualized how environmental factors (high winds, sea states, tropical cyclones) impact mission viability, specifically for flight operations and replenishment at sea.
Technical Domain Expertise
- Domain Immersion: Rapidly mastered complex military doctrines, including ATO (Air Tasking Order), ROE (Rules of Engagement), and MIL-STD-2525 symbology.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnered with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), retired military leads, and Business Development teams to ensure every pixel reflected realistic tactical logic.
- Rapid Prototyping: Utilized Figma to move from "Zero to MVP" for sales pitches, often incorporating motion design and video storytelling to demonstrate 3D parabolic missile trajectories and 2D-to-3D map transitions.
The Senior Intellectual Takeaway
My time at Hypergiant was defined by Designing for the Extreme. Unlike consumer apps, these interfaces involve life-or-death decision-making where "usability" means the difference between a successful intercept and a "leaker." I proved that a designer can be a key revenue driver by visualizing the "impossible" and making the most complex data systems in the world feel intuitive and actionable for the modern Warfighter.
