The Call Back: Navigating the AI Frontier
Role: Senior UX Designer – Core Systems & AI Strategy Start Date: December 4, 2025 – Present
A New Chapter
In late 2025, I was asked to return to Hypergiant. Re-entering the doors on December 4th, I found a company that had undergone a massive transformation. The separate entities had finally consolidated into the unified Accelint, and with that consolidation came a fundamental shift in our mission. I didn't return to the same role I left; I returned to a company that was ready to redefine how defense software is built.
The AI-Driven Software Factory
For the past four months, my focus has shifted from outward-facing sales prototypes to inward-facing innovation and infrastructure. We are currently in an era of rapid technological acceleration, and my role has been to help the company navigate this "AI arms race."
Instead of focusing on traditional design output, I have dedicated the majority of my time to the deep study and integration of Artificial Intelligence.
- Workflow R&D: I am spending my days "living" in tools like Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT to stress-test their capabilities. My goal is to understand how these Large Language Models can be woven into the fabric of our design and development cycles.
- Systems Research: I am investigating how to bridge the gap between our complex codebase and AI-driven efficiency. This involves a lot of experimentation — figuring out how to translate our unique requirements into a language that AI can process accurately and securely.
- Defining the New Normal: As we move toward becoming an AI-driven software factory, I am helping to lay the groundwork. This is about more than just speed; it's about discovering the specific workflows that allow us to maintain our high standards of precision while leveraging the power of automation.
The Current State
The culture today is different — more consolidated, more focused, and intentionally forward-looking. I am currently operating in a space of constant learning and iteration. My impact right now is measured by how well I can synthesize the noise of the AI world into actionable systems for our core design team.
"I returned to Accelint at a pivotal moment. I am currently focused on the 'intelligence' layer of our design system — learning, testing, and defining the workflows that will eventually allow us to ship products at a scale and speed previously unimagined in the defense space."
The Senior Intellectual Takeaway
This chapter highlights Hugo's most valuable senior trait: Intellectual Humility. He was willing to step back from "producing" to spend four months "learning." By mastering the nuances of AI communication today, he is ensuring he — and Accelint — remains indispensable tomorrow.
